http://www.arcgames.com/en/games/star-trek-online/news/detail/10361233-the-undiscovered-lockbox I cannot be the only person who finds this ship really intriguing.
Sure we still have to see stats... but one can be hopeful.
That console looks fun as well as my Main uses nothing but disruptors, my favorite weapon type honestly.
Tangentally would like to see more weapons with the disruptor proc, like Romulan Plasma rep weapons.
At any rate very excited and cannot wait to see and learn more.
Youtube vid I found with more views of the ship as well as the other two.

We'll see what the stats are like. If it's a murder machine like the D4 and D7, that may solve a lot of my qualms...
My main is also a KDF Eng, many lockbox ships, but she is a flavor of the moment captain, who generally goes back to her T5U Vor'cha or Fleet Mat'ha, or at the moment the T6 fleet Vet ship.
I agree the ship does look a bit cartoony, but at the same time gives me feels for the old SNES Starfleet Academy game.
Worst case that Disruptor Lance Console can be put on other ships.
I am hoping for a Vor'cha type inertia so she can do the Power slide when you het her turn high enough. A Vor'cha with turn 50+ is like a pilot escort with lock trajectory.
I don't have a D4, but want her for the trait to use on my battlecruisers, raptors, dreads, ect... Temporal D7, can't afford, might grab a T5U at some point, have a T5U Kamarag, love that ship.
My Tact is in the Kor and T5U Kamarag, my Sci Gorn has a Korath, Krenn, Rozenko, and Paradox. My other Eng is currently using the Fleet D7 and Comand Battle Cruisers. My 3 Ferasans use T5U Jem'hadar, Breen Ships, or Pilot Ships.
But my main is a Disruptors only spoiled space pirate with spoils of war. She'shar, Mon'bosh, Narcine, Hirogen Heavy Escort, Ferengi Maruader, I do need to get her a Keldon to unlock the Spiral Disruptors. Between her Lockbox ships and KDF Ships, she has at least 1 ship running each type of Disruptors. (Need to grind out some plasma Disruptors too actually).
But like I said above, even the console on this ship looks like it would be fun on other ships.
Not sure how I feel about the Scramble sensors trait, but been eyeing the Science Bortas for a Cruiser with SA, and a few of my KDF could benefit from the checkmate trait.
I would like to see them take a serious stab at taking the classic designs and making believable retrofit/upgrade versions of them. Nothing garish or ridiculous...just basic modernized versions without any radical departures from the original designs.
The last time they did this for the Klingons, whether they meant to or not, was the Kamarag. The Kamarag was a mix of Vor'cha body/neck and K'tinga forward command section. All that with modernized looking warp nacelles.
Why would you want this over the Kurak?
Yeah, I have lost some of the wind in my sails. Can see grabbing cross faction consoles for my Rom, just to boost Plasma Damage more. Maybe for my fed too. I definitely have mixed feelings. If it at least had a ltc Sci...
Like Redvenge says the Kurak seems better for a 5/3, I might just grab a Gorkon next time there is a ship sale however.
There's a story that when the Ambassador was being designed, they literally drew lines between equivalent points on the Excelsior and Galaxy, then used the midway markers. The Kamarag looks like that logic applied to the Vor'cha and K't'inga, but it's glorious for it.
And please, the ugliest of the bunch? Have you seen that Romulan piece of scrap metal? It looks like a T'liss had a full frontal collision with a D'Deridex at warp 9. It will probably be the most effective of these dreadnoughts, though. When one of those silly looking things decloaks and starts making threats claiming to be a dreadnought, there's about 100% chance me and my entire crew will die of laughter.
It does unlock fighters with cannons and lock trajectory which is also interesting.
The other stickler for me is that for the first time ever in a Cross Faction Cruiser release, the KDF Battlecruiser has the worst turn rate of the lot. Turn Rate 7 is just a shy better than the 6.5 of the T6 Bortasqu'. Meaning it's awful for narrow arc builds like the traditional DC/DHC builds that Klingon Battlecruisers in this game excelled at.
TLDR: Like the Bortasqu's, the D9 is meant to be played like a Fed Cruiser, not a Klingon one.
I won one but I think I'll be giving it to one of my Romulans for the Warbird.
Give it/sell it to some fellow Klingon player that wants one, but hasn't been so lucky to get one.
With Turn rate things now available, Im getting a turn of 52 on my Ornash. I picked up a 200,000 fleet credit basic bortas to see what kind of turn and slide I can get out of her.
But I also want to see all the hull material and shield options on the D9, so waiting for that on YouTube. So acquiring this ship is a backburner item. The Pets with Cannons and Lock Trajectory are still appealing on paper.
The D9 and T6 Bortasqu' are very solid Fed-style Beamboat Cruisers. For traditional Klingon Battlecruiser style with narrow arc weapons, it's unacceptable in handling unless you go stationary and make yourself a turret and eat every single shot going your way. The D9 has 7 turn rate over the T6 Bort's 6.5.
Turn Rates / Inertia Rating
T6 Negh'Var 9 / 25 (She slides a bit but turns very well)
T6 Mogh 9 / 50
T6 Qib 11 / 55 (The best handling KDF Battlecruiser without a doubt)
T6 D7 11 / 45
T5 Fleet Vor'Cha 10 / 30 (Still rock solid reliable handling)
T6 Command Battlecruisers 8 / 35
T6 D9 7 / 35
T6 Bortasqu' 6.5 / 30
T5 Bortasqu' 5.5 / 18 (Pigs)
The Kamarag and Vor'cha are my sweet spot preference for battlecruisers, I must admit I've never used the negh'var, but on paper maybe that would be worth taking a look at. At t5 I never liked the Mogh, but at T6 she seems much better..
I don't really like the TOS KDF aesthetics. I like the TOS movie ships, and even got the D7 from the Promo, but regretfully it didn't get a visual update.
Other KDF Battlecruisers are simply better. Even for the Fed version, there's already better Fed Cruisers. For the Roms, I already got the cross-faction Command Cruisers. Maybe if these Dreads' Cmdr ENG were specialist seats, I'd have an excuse but these things are worse Cruisers than what's released before.
Wait.....you actually like the Romulan variant?!??
I do, it's more of a beefed up TOS warbird style. And it has the phoenix design!... but it's at the bottom of the ship.

Actually I would really dig a Kamarag. If they did a Vo'Quv they should update the BoP pets to be based on the Kor, and have Pilot abilities. Lock Trajectory for their cannon strafing would be nice, but having 'Scratch the Paint' would be a godsend, at least in my opinion. Cloaked pets not dieing from core breaches would be a good thing.
For that matter, Romulans should get an updated pet with 'Scratch the Paint' as well

The Shawshank Redemption
And A Propos of dying hopes: I unpacked the ship on Tribble and noticed immediately that Material 4 has the same problem as the Neg'Tev - you can't set patterns or apply colors. *sigh*
- Cosmetically, it's halfway between the D7 and Negh'var, especially once you put non-TOS skins on it. That's definitely well ahead of the Bortas classes (which while impressively brutal, are not a patch on the canon designs).
- It's got 5 forward weapons, which IMO should be the case for all Klingon cruisers. Klingons face their enemy head on, and all of the canon ships reflect that. It's just depressing that only the Kurak/Mogh do so out of the c-store/fleet options.
- The setup can accommodate 4 sci slots, which allows for FBP and TBR or Jam Sensors as well as defensive powers.
It could be fun to fly, as a halfway point between the aesthetics of the Negh'tev and the brute power of the flagships or command cruisers. Still, 300M EC is a lot to pay for the privilege... but it feels like it'd be more fun than paying the same to put "Invincible" on one of my Tacs.
